Q: Where can I find my recordings?

If you have one of our 4k Recordable TV boxes</a>, your recordings are stored in the Recordings</strong> section of the menu. To find them, just press Home</strong> on your remote and then select Recordings</strong>. You’ll see a list of all the recordings you have or scroll through a number of filters to get you to the programme you’re after.</p>

How do I record a programme?

It’s easy to record your favourite programmes, and you can manage your recordings by visiting the Recordings section.

There are four different ways that you can set up a recording on your Set Top Box.

One touch record from live TV
To record the programme you’re watching now, press R on your remote. An R symbol will appear next to the programme name to show that the programme is being recorded.

From the Now & Next menu
Highlight the programme you want to record and press R on the remote. An R symbol will appear next to the programme name to show that the programme is being recorded.

From the TV guide
Highlight the programme you want to record and press R on the remote to record that particular episode. An R symbol will appear next to the programme name to show that the programme is being recorded.

From Series Link in the Action Menu
To record a whole series, highlight the progamme, press OK and choose the Record Seriesoption.

If the programme is available in HD, you will also get asked if you want to record the HD or SD version.

When a programme is successfully set to series record, you will see a different icon, it will be rectangular in shape and multi-layered.

Question 2

What happens if I have a recording conflict?

Accepted Answer

If you have set your Box to record too many shows at the same time, your Box will display with a message, to help you solve a recording conflict.

If one of the programmes you have set to record is on at another time, your Box will suggest various ways of resolving the conflict, such as recording it later on a +1 channel. Simply select the option that best suits your viewing schedule.

Some programmes may be available to watch On Demand without needing to record. You can find out more by visiting the On Demand platforms (such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX).

Question 3

What is my default pin?

Accepted Answer

Your Box’s default PIN is 0000.

If you have changed your PIN but cannot remember it then you will need to perform a Full Factory Reset.

Question 5

My planned recording has disappeared

Accepted Answer

If it is a programme you had scheduled, then this will be removed from the 'Planned' filter once it is recorded and added to you main Recordings screen are. If you’ve set a series to record only episodes showing in the next 7 days will be shown in that 'Planned’ filter.

If it is a case that the recording you've set is not showing on any filter, try recording the same programme again (or a different programme) to check that the recording functionality is working properly.

If the problem persists, we recommend you reboot your Box by pressing the Power button on your Freesat Box for 5 seconds. If you are still experiencing recording issues, please contact our Customer Service team.

Question 6

Series Link does not seem to be working

The first thing to check is that Series link has been set up. You can do this by looking at your Planned Recordings, where you can view all scheduled recordings.

The other cause might be the way Broadcaster's have provided that information, which might not recognise it as part of a series. In these cases, we’re recommend using an On Demand player to access the content, or recording each episode separately.

Question 7

I have WLNB but can't record 4 channels at the same time

Accepted Answer

This issue may be as a result of loose cables. We recommend you try reconnecting the satellite cables, ensuring they are tightly screwed in, then reboot your box. This should clear the issue.

Please note that if you want to record 4 things at the same time, you are not able to be watching a 5th programme at the same time. See Recordings troubleshooting for a full list of the different setups and how many recordings you can make simultaneously.

Question 8

My box is running out of space.  What can I do?

Accepted Answer

If you are running out of space, the box will automatically delete the oldest programme to make way for any new recordings. To check how much space you have available, go to Home and then Recordings, where the usage percentage will display.

To prevent any specific recording from being deleted, you can use the Keep function. To find this, select the recording you wish to keep, press OK and then click on the Keep option.
