A genetically advanced chimpanzee (Andy Serkis) is raised by humans (James Franco, John Lithgow), but when he is eventually taken away in captivity by animal control, he learns he is capable of so much more than monkeying around. The film marks the seventh entry into the Planet of the Apes series, and the first of the blockbuster reboots.
