Everything You Need to Know About Your Freesat Remote

If your Freesat remote isn’t working as expected, try these simple steps to get it working again:

Check the Basics

  • Battery check: Make sure the batteries are fresh and inserted the right way round. If you’re unsure, try the batteries in another remote to check they work.
  • Remote signal: When you press a button, does a red light flash on your remote? Does your Freesat box respond? If not, the signal might not be reaching the box.
  • Clear the path: Check there’s nothing blocking the front of your Freesat box. Even small objects, like books or decorations, can stop the signal from getting through.

Reset your Freesat remote

If you’ve checked the basics and your remote still isn’t responding, a reset can help:

  1. Press and hold the red button (not standby or record) and the AD button together for three seconds.
  2. Next, press and hold the Home button. The LED will blink once.
  3. Finally, press and hold the red button again for five seconds. The LED will blink five times to confirm the reset.

This will remove any existing TV code and return your remote to its default settings.
