Freesat’s parental controls help you manage what content can be viewed on your box — ideal for keeping age-inappropriate programmes out of reach.
What do parental controls do?
Parental controls let you restrict access to certain programmes or recordings based on age ratings. For example, if you try to watch a post-watershed recording during the day, you’ll be asked to enter your PIN.
You can also use parental controls to:
- Block specific channels or types of content
- Prevent purchases or changes to settings
- Set viewing restrictions by time or age rating
These settings help ensure children only access content that’s appropriate for them.
What is my default PIN?
The default PIN for your Freesat box is 0000.
If you’ve changed your PIN and can’t remember it, you’ll need to perform a Full Factory Reset to regain access.
Important: A factory reset will erase all stored recordings, preferences and settings. This action cannot be undone.
To avoid losing content, we recommend:
- Choosing a memorable PIN (such as a favourite number or date)
- Avoiding easily guessed numbers like 1234 or your birth year
- Writing it down and storing it in a secure place if needed
On Demand App Parental Controls
On demand apps (such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX, or Netflix) have their own parental controls, which are set by each provider. These may be different from the parental controls on your Freesat box.
For details on how to set up parental controls within each app, please visit the app provider’s website.
