Live Restart is a feature that allows you to start a programme from the beginning if you’ve missed the start*.  To find out which programmes have Live Restart, simply look in the TV Guide and any programme that has this feature enabled will have an icon next to it.

To use it on our Set Top Boxes, find the programme you are after in the TV Guide, press Select and you will then see the option to ‘Watch from Start’. You will require an internet connection for this service.



*Please note that this feature is managed by the channels rather than Freesat so we cannot control which channels or programmes have them and which don't.

Parental controls allow you to control the type of content children are allowed to watch – ensuring they can’t watch programmes or recordings that may not be age appropriate, for example.

If you try to watch a programme that was recorded post-watershed at a time that is pre-watershed then you will be asked to enter your PIN.

If you forget your pin then you will need to reset the box which will also reset your stored recordings. To avoid losing your recordings, we advise that you take care to choose a memorable number when changing or resetting your PIN.

To connect your box to the TV, follow these simple steps:

Start by inserting the batteries into the remote control, as indicated by the markings within the battery compartment.
Next, connect the cables from your satellite dish into the back of your box (RF IN 1 or RF IN 2) by screwing them in. If your satellite dish cable only has one connector, it can be connected to either socket.
Connect your box to your TV using the HDMI cable supplied.
If you are going to use an Ethernet cable (not supplied with your Box) to connect to the internet, then connect your cable now.  If you are doing it wirelessly, you’ll be able to do it later during the start-up process so you can skip this step.
Connect the power supply unit into the POWER IN socket, plug it into the wall socket and switch on.
Once done, power up your box by pressing the button on the top of the box or by pressing the power button on your remote control, turn on your TV and you’re ready to go!

You can indeed.  The Freesat box is an independent device and therefore it will work with most TVs.  All you need to make sure is that you have a satellite cable to link to the set top box and a HDMI cable to connect from the box to the TV.

It’s easy to record your favourite programmes, and you can manage your recordings by visiting the Recordings section.

There are four different ways that you can set up a recording on your Set Top Box. Click here to see what these are.

If you have one of our 4k Recordable TV boxes, your recordings are stored in the Recordings section of the menu. To find them, just press Home on your remote then select Recordings.  You’ll see a list of all the recordings you have or scroll through a number of filters to get you to the programme you’re after.

Absolutely!  How many you can record depends on the type of satellite dish you have and what you are trying to do. If you have a SkyQ dish (or another dish that can carry WLNB), then you will be able to record up to 4 programmes at one time.  If it is not, then the most you will be able to record at the same time is 2.  Below is a table that outlines how many you can record depending on the scenario.

These features are managed by individual channels so we cannot control or guarantee which channels have them and which don't.

Also, the accuracy of these features is something managed by the individual channels.

Our latest Set Top Boxes have a variety of options for output resolution – ranging from 576 (Standard Definition) through to 2160 (or 4K).  The box will default to the best picture setting available, but you can change it at any time through the Picture Settings.

To find the Sound settings of the box, press the Home button on your remote.  This should bring up the Home screen where you will see a "Settings" option.  If you select it, you will then be shown a set of options, one of which is Picture & Sound Settings.

If you’ve not connected to Wifi during the initial set up process, you can do it at any time by heading to the Settings Menu.  On that menu you will see Internet Connection where you will see an option to set up a Wireless Connection.  Press that and your wireless network should appear.  If it doesn't then try rescanning.  Once it has found your network, you’ll just need to enter your password and it should connect within a few moments.

You can still watch On Demand content if you have an Ethernet cable (not supplied) to connect your internet router to the box.

This may be an issue with the wifi itself, so check that any other devices connected to it are not facing the same issue.  If they are, then it is best to contact your internet service provider.

If the wifi appears to be working correctly on other devices, try restarting the box. 

If that doesn’t work, then try connecting to the internet using an Ethernet cable (not supplied). 

If your Box is unresponsive or stops working as expected, then you may need to Reboot or Reset it to get it up and running again.

If it is a programme you had scheduled, then this will be removed from the 'Planned' filter once it is recorded and added to you main Recordings screen are. If you’ve set a series to record only episodes showing in the next 7 days will be shown in that 'Planned’ filter.

If it is a case that the recording they'd set is not showing on any filter, try recording the same programme again (or a different programme) to check that the function is working properly.

If problem persists, try rebooting the box and if that doesn't work, then you should reset the box before trying again.  If none of these actions help, then speak to one of our team

Our new 4K TV boxes have seen developments in several areas:

- Faster navigation through the different sections of the box 
- Improved User Interface 
- New Tuners to allow for 4K signal reception (you will need both a 4K-enabled TV and access to 4K content in order to make the most of this)
- Compatibility with a wider set of satellite types, including Wideband LNB meaning you can record more programmes at the same time ( this will depend on your set up - check the manuals for more information).

However some things remain the same. You still get: 

- Access to around 170 channels, including 20 in HD
- Access to On Demand services - some free, some paid for (which you will need to subscribe to in order to use) 
- Quick and easy set up

You can upgrade your box at any point by simply purchasing a new one either through our website or one of our partner retailers.

Box has frozen or is unresponsive

If your box freezes, please turn it off at the mains and wait for thirty seconds before restarting. If this doesn't resolve it, and you are able to access the menu, the next step would be to try a factory reset via the setting menu. This won't affect any stored recordings, but you will need to reset any planned recordings that you have scheduled. If your box freezes during a recording, turning it off at the mains will make the recording fail.

Pause & Rewind not working

If your Freesat Smart TV Recorder loses the ability to pause and rewind live TV, this suggests a problem with your hard drive. First, please ensure you have the latest version of software for your box - you can find out what version you have via system information in the settings menu and checking this against the information displayed on the manufacturer's website. Once you have validated this, the next step would be to perform a disk cleanup, via the settings menu. This won't affect any stored recordings, but if that fails the next step would be to format the hard drive, which will remove any stored recordings.

Extreme weather conditions (such as driving rain, strong winds or snow) can affect the satellite signal. 

In the event of calm weather and your Freesat box or TV reporting no signal there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve it.

First, make sure all the connections at the back of the box/TV to the dish are securely tightened; then try doing a channel scan, or first time install to see if this restores any lost channels.

In the event that this doesn't resolve the issue, there may be a problem with either the alignment of the dish, or some interference in the LNB (the protrusion at the end of the dish that the wires connect to). If this is the case, then you might need to contact an installer to come and look at your satellite.

If you encounter channels missing from your TV guide, put your Freesat box into standby for 30 seconds and then switch it back on again. This should see everything restored; If this does not work you’ll need to do a quick 'Freesat channel scan'. 

If you do perform a Freesat channel scan, it’s worth making a note of your scheduled recordings and re-setting them once the scan is complete to be sure you won’t miss out.

All Freesat digital boxes and Freesat TVs offer parental controls, which allow you to restrict certain types of programming or channels behind a PIN.

All Freesat products also offer Subtitles and Audio Description, where these have been made available.

Yes, you can buy more than one product on our webstore. However, because we currently have a limit of one Set Top Box per order, you will need to make multiple orders.

You can cancel your order before it's been shipped, if you have not yet recieved a dispatch email then you may be able to cancel your order. Please call our customer team who will be best placed to assist. 

In the event that your order has already been processed, you are advised to wait for delivery before contacting our customer team to arrange a return and refund.

We are unable to change the product type chosen in orders placed. If you have decided that you would prefer a different 4K TV Box then you will need to cancel or return your order before placing a new order.

Freesat uses DHL parcel service for deliveries, upon receipt of your dispatch notification your box should arrive within 2-3 working days. 

If it has been more than 3 days since you received your dispatch notification and your parcel has not yet arrived, you can check it's delivery status using the DHL track and trace service the tracking number found in your dispatch email.

Once your return or order cancellation has been confirmed you can expect your refund to be credited to the original payment card within 3 to 5 working days.

We do not offer a payment plan option at this time but hope to introduce a way to purchase Freesat boxes in installments.
