All4 and 4HD to leave Freesat
We’re very sorry that Channel 4 HD and All 4 have left Freesat and can understand how disappointing this is for our customers.
Why has this happened?
We have recently updated our broadcast channel charging policy so that the fees paid by channels are now more closely linked to the number of viewers they reach, and therefore the advertising revenue they can earn from being on Freesat. While this resulted in an increase for Channel 4’s broadcast channels, our On Demand fees haven’t changed so we were surprised that they decided to remove All 4 from the platform as well.
Freesat is not a Pay-TV service and does not receive revenue from viewers or advertisers. Our charging policy is defined according to Ofcom regulations, and not aimed to make a profit but simply to cover our operational costs. We believe that the redistribution of fees for channels makes it a fairer system for all of our partners, and are sorry that our customers have been affected by Channel 4’s decision.
What about other Channel 4 channels?
Channel 4 SD, E4, More 4, 4seven and Film 4 are unaffected by the changes and remain available to watch as usual via the TV guide.
How do I reset my recordings from 4HD to 4SD?
You will need to manually reset any recordings on Channel 4 SD from 104 (120 in Wales) in the TV guide.
Can I still watch old recordings from 4HD?
Yes you can. All recordings set before February 22nd will remain saved to your hard drive.
Where else can I watch All4?
